Ole and Tina, during the second week of rehearsals in our Dance Studio in Chelmsford were looking at implementing some basic ideas visually, such as how the arrows, that defy movement can be transformed into houses once tilted.

The team is still working on visuals while rehearsing with the dancers.

Here, Tina and Ole are trying out the idea of putting together the three dancers’ projections. The three dancers will be filmed in different parts of Luton and during the performance their projections will merge into one common space.

Tina (Choreographer) and Ole (Media Artist) from Recoil Performance Group came to Luton in March to select three dancers for the site specific commision.

The day consisted of two groups of approximately 20 dancers, who showed their creativity and skills in a series of tasks containing pre-choreographed material from Tina’s previous work but also improvised movement and speech.

Tina and Ole explain what they found intriguing about Luton at a first glimpse, the industrial history and the sense of transience, which they are currently studying more in depth and will put in practice in May during their rehearsals at Create Dance Studio.
